Ash and his team are journeying towards Pastoria City and have a stopover at a Pokemon Center for some workouts. From television, Dawn comes to know that Wallace, the Hoenn-Champion is coming to Sinnoh to inaugurate a special contest.
Dawn thinks of training for the tourney, but decides against it on the advice of Zoey. The group meet Wallace who informs them that the ribbon received by the victor of the Wallace Cup is accepted everywhere. Wallace advises Dawn to train her Pokemon and requested Ash to enter Buizel for the competition.
