Ash and company turns up in Emera Grove Town, the place of Gardenia, Eterna-City-Gym-Leader. Team-Rocket is also around and made their mind up to filch Pikachu.
James summons Cacnea and Gardenia collapses on it and they decide to have a tag battle. Now the fight is being drawn with Ash and Dawn against James and Gardenia. Gardenia advises James that the move calls for faultless timing with Cacnea and offers to train Cacnea. James prevaricates and thought of coaching Cacnea himself. Jessie and Meowth are of the opinion that DrainPunch has merit and persuade Ash to assist James.
